Study of effect of acceleration lane length, angle of convergence, and ramp grade on entrance ramp operation; studies were made at 29 entrance ramps in Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, and New York City; acceleration lanes of ramps studied ranged from 240 to 1500 ft and convergence angles ranged from 1 to 14°; technique involving time-lapse photography from circling airplane was developed.
