Space vehicle emergency escape systems should be self-contained, simple, light weight devices that may be stored in high density package in parent vehicle; operational characteristics of inflatable paraglider for recovery of crews from space is considered; deployment of escape vehicle and aeromechanics of re-entry trajectories; design charts show influence of wing loading on total systems weight; control characteristics, component weights, and micrometeoroid hazards are analyzed.
