Analysis of infinite louver array, employed on spacecraft for active thermal control led to 7 equations; 6 of them form simultaneous set which describes heat-transfer characteristics of array, and seventh gives its relative thermal performance in terms of effective emissivity; equations are solved numerically, and effective emissivity is plotted as function of louver blade position for various values of dimensionless parameters that appear in governing heat-transfer equations; results are compared with experimental results obtained for Mariner II spacecraft louver system.
