Missions are considered in terms of direct and indirect return using lunar orbit rendezvous with either return propulsion only, or with return propulsion and return vehicle; in latter case, lunar operations are carried out with separate lunar vehicle; system weights for return modes are studied in terms of number and types of propulsion stages, number of men returned and return time, size and shape of return vehicle, overall equipment requirements, emergency return considerations, and time on moon.
