Behavior of large flexible spinning space stations following impact of ferry vehicle during docking maneuver is examined; mathematical methods are developed to study problem, and variety of space station configurations are subjected to analysis; on basis of results obtained, merits of certain design approaches are considered, taking into consideration related factors such as possible methods of attitude control and techniques of docking; if designs are chosen incorporating symmetrical rotor and stator elements, many difficulties will be eliminated.
