Built and engined by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Co, Glasgow; length oa 502 ft; breadth molded 66 ft; propelled by two sets of 8-cyl, 2-stroke, single-acting, crosshead-type Fairfield-Sulzer airless-injection Diesel engines with cylinders 28.4 in. diam by 39 in. stroke, developing total of 8000 bhp at 115 rpm.
