First high-speed standard steam-driven passenger train, designed to compete with streamline light-weight Diesel-electric equipment; equipment refurnished and redecorated and is air-conditioned throughout; to operate this service, there are four 148-ton Pacific type locomotives with 26-in. by 28-in. cylinders fitted with 79-in. driving wheels and with oil-burning equipment; alterations and conditioning work done in 60 days at cost of $14,000 per locomotive.
