There are two basic methods of measuring rate of rotation of vehicle with self-contained instrument which does not require any reference to outside sources; established method is to use rate gyroscope; second method is by using so-called laser gyroscope, which, however, is not yet developed to stage where it can be considered competitive with classic rate gyroscope; general theory of rate gyro and construction and design features of typical rate gyros; description of production testing at Elliott Flight Automation Ltd.
