[Objective] The number and installation location of balises directly affect the line safety, operation efficiency, and project cost of urban rail transit. Therefore, it is necessary to study the design scheme of the balise layout in platform trackside under CBTC (communication based automatic train control) system. [Method] The design principle of accurate platform parking under the CBTC system is introduced, the layout rules and methods of the balises for the accurate stopping balise, the first and the second proximity balises are expounded in detail. With the CBTC system of Metro Line 10 in Zhengzhou as the research object, the layout scheme of the platform trackside balise is illustrated. [Result & Conclusion] The layout scheme of the passive balise in platform trackside, as explained, achieves accurate parking on the platform when the train enters the station. On the premise of ensuring train safety and operation efficiency, the minimized number of trackside passive balise reduces project cost. The proposed scheme has good application effect in the signal system of the urban rail transit lines in Shanghai, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Zhengzhou, and other cities.
