Road accidents are major problem and occurrences have increased day by day and so there needs to be a system that can help us to reduce such accidents. The main for these accidents according to the highway accident statistics is the over speeding of vehicles. As the all highways do have signboards that indicate the maximum speed limit, no one think to follow the rules. The current speed detection systems are handheld guns by the police personnel that allow them to check the car speed thereby manually information provided to the authorities about the vehicle. Our proposed system does not need any human work and records the car speed as well as informs the nearest authorities for the rule breaking so that the vehicle rider get punished for it . This paper aims at developing a system that will help to detect the speed of the vehicle, with the help of Arduino and IR sensors if over speeding occurs, then camera will captured the number plate of vehicle and send it to the RTO through server, the image capturing done with the help of image processing and person get punished for over speeding
