With the continuous promotion of new urbanization, China’s urban and rural structure has undergone fundamental changes, but it is also inevitably faced with challenges such as carbon emissions, environmental pollution, and traffic congestion. Among them, traffic congestion has become an important problem perplexing urban sustainable development. Under the condition of existing urban road resources, taking the combination of dredging and blocking and giving priority to the development of public transport is an effective way to solve urban traffic congestion. Based on the analysis of the current situation and causes of urban traffic congestion in China, with the help of big data analysis technology, intelligent traffic monitoring technology, and bus priority technology, the paper puts forward the macro, meso, and micro modes of urban traffic congestion control from the aspects of macro-level or top-level system design, meso-level road congestion punishment, and micro-level bus lane and signal priority.
