A truck and bus managed lane, a separate (exclusive) right-turn lane that lies adjacent to a modern roundabout, allows right-turning movements to bypass a roundabout, facilitates right-turn traffic flow, helps the heaviest used roundabout approach, reduces approach delay, and may reduce vehicle conflicts. A microsimulation assessment considers experimental balanced flow scenarios and three different bus and truck as managed lane traffic percentages (low: 5%, moderate: 45%, and high: 100%). Results show variations and sensitivity of roundabouts delay with managed lanes are due to variations of volumes. Also, the free-flow managed lane exit type provides significant reductions in total roundabout average delay. Consistent with expectations, the average delay of a roundabout with truck managed lane has a significant reduction on the average roundabout delay compared to the bus managed lane.
