In order to explore the causes of the risk driving behavior of young drivers, and to analyze the impact of individual characteristics on risk driving behavior, a questionnaire survey was conducted using Chen Huichang temperament scale (CTS), driver skill inventory (DSI), and driver behavior questionnaire (DBQ). Through analysis of variance, it was found that there was no significant difference in risky driving behavior among different gender drivers. The correlation analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between driver’s temperament and driving behavior, and the main effect of temperament characteristics could explain 85.2% of errors, 82.8% of lapses, 42.8% of violations, and 26.1% of positive behavior based on hierarchical regression analysis. In addition to the type of driver temperament, the driver’s driving skills also have a potential impact on driving behavior. The research results have certain guiding significance for the improvement of driving behavior for young drivers.
