This paper studies the hub city selection problem of multimodal transport systems from the view of the operator. First, considering that the entire transport process contains several transport modes, and there are mode conversions in the hub, a multimodal freight transport network is constructed to reflect the process more intuitively; after that, taking the transportation cost between city nodes, the mode transformation fee in the hub, and the cost of considering time value of goods as general transportation cost, the container multimodal transport hub selection model is constructed. The goal of the model is to complete the network transportation task and minimize the generalized transportation costs, the outcome of it is choosing a certain number of hub cities from hub city alternatives, and planning the optimal transportation routes and mode combinations between city nodes. Finally, a case study is conducted based on the freight network of Jiangsu Province to verify the validity of the model.
