Based on the macroscopic characteristics of pedestrian flow, a unidirectional pedestrian flow dynamical model is developed. The model parameters are calibrated in this paper using survey data. Combining the particle filter algorithm with the pedestrian flow dynamical model, the state estimator of unidirectional pedestrian flow has been built, and it has been validated with a case study. The result indicates that the state of unidirectional pedestrian flow could be well estimated using a particle filter algorithm.
