This research analyzes the airport ground access mode choice of air passengers by examining a sample data obtained from a survey of self-administered questionnaire that was designed to collect the empirical data at Pudong International Airport for this study. A nested logit (NL) model is set up to explore the factors affecting passengers’ airport access mode choice behavior and forecast the probability of choosing each mode, and the model shows acceptable prediction errors. The key explanatory variables were divided into two categories. One is service level of each mode including time and cost, etc. The other is individual feature of each traveler including purpose and department, etc. The model results indicate that the choice of airport access modes is significantly affected by travel time, trip purpose, travel cost, parking fee, comfort, and convenience (represented by luggage). It was also found that business and nonbusiness passengers have significantly different choice behavior.
