In order to study the applicability of a semi-rigid base asphalt pavement roughness evaluation model for freeways in current Chinese specifications, field detection roughness data from Jinghu freeway in Jiangsu Province was utilized. The International Roughness Index (IRI) of the Jinghu freeway from 2001 to 2008 was utilized for the pavement roughness index. From this pavement maintenance data, an evaluation standard of IRI was built using the hypothesis testing method. Finally, the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software built the pavement roughness evaluation model. In order to validate the model, IRI data from the Guangjin-Xicheng freeway was then analyzed. The results indicated that the evaluation model presented in this study accurately described actual roughness characteristics. Through this work, a more scientific and applicable pavement roughness evaluation method for semi-rigid base asphalt concrete freeway pavement was established.
