The data and characteristics of the road accidents caused by the commercial vehicles in recent years in China are analyzed. The result shows that the safety situation of the commercial vehicles has changed significantly. Although the proportion of the road accidents caused by the commercial vehicles decreased significantly, the proportion of the extraordinarily serious road accidents caused by the commercial vehicles is still high. In the road accidents caused by the commercial vehicles, the proportion of the road accidents caused by freight vehicles is highest, especially heavy trucks. In the extraordinarily serious road accidents caused by the commercial vehicles, the proportion of the road accidents caused by passenger transportation vehicles is highest. Moreover, the countermeasures of further curbing the accidents caused by commercial vehicles are proposed.
