This paper proposes a genetic algorithm method to optimize the configuration of maritime patrol ship (MPS) sites along waterway segments of the Yangtze River in order to minimize the total sailing distance as well as the response time, thus meeting the requirements of the "153040" rapid response mechanism by CJMSA. Through application of this method in experiment, we could get an optimal configuration of MPS sites.
