In the period of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, 50 high-performance lithium power battery electric buses were developed, a largest scale and highest level demonstration engineering for electric vehicles was carried out. The performance of these electric buses, the using theory of pure electric vehicles and the key technologies used in the demonstration were introduced in this paper. The formed promoting and application system includes charging station, battery rapid automatic replacement, vehicles maintenance, remote security monitoring and smart scheduling. The application theory and mode can give full play to the advantages of pure electric vehicles and overcome their technical flaws, provide a model and technical reserves for the electrification of city buses.
