With the rapid increase of logistics size and the socialization of traffic resources, the form of logistics system gradually presents the effect of "logistics field" with logistics sources, logistics lines and logistics sinks. For further study on the operation mechanism of modern logistics system, basic characteristic quantities of logistics field such as the field line, the path line, the field potential, and the field intensity are defined, the operation model is established. And through an example analysis, the effectiveness and reasonableness of the above-mentioned theory and calculation method are validated. The results show that the logistics system operation model can effectively describe the basic characteristics of logistics activities, and can essentially reveal the operation law of logistics system, which deepens the logistics field theory, and can be a reference for optimization of logistics system.
