China’s rapid urbanization increases transport congestion and medical service demand. This study introduces a model to examine factors affecting public transport use for non-emergency medical visits and the resulting satisfaction. It utilizes Planned Behavior Theory, considering demographics, household traits, preferences, medical conditions, hospital attributes, and travel factors. Conducted in March 2023, the study collected 400 surveys, applying the Multinomial Unordered Logit model to assess factors influencing transport mode choices, with the Ordered Logit evaluating satisfaction with public transport for medical visits. Significant factors include hospital reputation, car ownership, income, companions, walking time, travel costs, transport satisfaction, and subway station proximity to hospitals. Travel expenses and satisfaction with public transport also significantly affect overall satisfaction. Moreover, skills in using non-motorized vehicles and bus aversion may influence satisfaction levels. The insights assist in understanding public transport users for medical visits, helping policymakers enhance their travel experience.
