By means of a limit theorem of renewal theory and renewal function H(t), a new mathematical model of transport vehicle optimum maintenance period has been developed. The optimum goal of this model is to make the cost of vehicle detection, diagnosis, maintenance and repair per operating time (or traveling mileage) lowest. After statistical analysis and handling of a vast amount of actual detection, diagnosis, maintenance and repair sample data obtained of given type truck's operation during last several years, the necessary parameters were taken into the developed model and the solution of the optimum model was sought out. A special operating test was also carried out to examine the accuracy of model's solution. The results of this research showed that renewal theory can be used to direct maintenance and repair production of transport vehicle feasibly and effectively, and the solution of the model is accurate and reliable.
