A logistical analysis and feasibility study for a confidential client regarding an oil field development located in a remote area of the Peruvian Amazon. With no existing infrastructure to allow road access to the site, the project team undertook a study of the feasibility of transporting prefabricated CPF concrete caissons from a manufacturing yard in Louisiana, USA to the client site on the Puinahua Canal, Peru using only water-borne transportation methods. These units were over 200 ft in length, and the study looked at the challenges and risks associated with each stage of the caisson movement; open sea transport, dry tow and wet tow, operation duration, seasonal and tidal variations, site conditions and any unique marine structures required for the delivery and installation.
