Imagine being an astronaut, eating food out of a tube day after day after day. If there was a greenhouse attached to the space ship you were on you could eat fresh fruits and vegetables every day! Imagine how wonderful that would be. It would make outer space feel almost like home. Using greenhouses on long-term Earth orbits and on space stations would be beneficial in many ways. By having a greenhouse attached to a space shuttle, astronauts could be provided with fresh fruits and vegetables, a way to recycle food waste, an alternate power source for the ship, and a new way to generate oxygen. To absorb the largest possible amount of rays from the sun, the greenhouse would have double glass, and the excess energy from the greenhouse could be stored to heat the space shuttle. With all of the new advancements in technology, isn't it about time we spread the knowledge of solar energy into outer space?
