The behavior of pedestrians crossing on unmarked roadway still exists in developing countries, which leads to a large number of traffic accidents, but the research in this field is limited. This study explores safety related factors at unmarked roadways, aiming at finding the relationship between the factors and how they affect pedestrian safety. We recorded 977 pedestrians’ crossing process and found that unsafe behavior has a negative impact on decision making and crossing; walkers and large groups tend to select a smaller crossing gap; decision making and crossing safety of the second lane is worse than that of the first lane; longer waiting time and more observation before crossing have a good influence on safety; oblique crossing path with the same direction of vehicle is conducive to improving safety.
