Owing to constrained topography and road geometry, two-lane plateau mountain highways are subjected to frequent traffic accidents. In order to study the distribution law of traffic accidents, and compare the differences between various types of roads, the Yuan (Mou)-Shuang (Bai) highway was used as the research object. Based on data of traffic accidents, traffic flow, and road profile, the statistical analysis and the K-means clustering methods were used to analyze the spatial characteristics of traffic accidents, and the relationship between the accident rate and the linear parameters of the two-lane highway is analyzed. The analysis result revealed that there is a significant difference from other types of the highway. The accident rate of curved road sections is higher than ordinary sections. The crash accident is the main accident form. And the accidents involving unprotected vehicles or trucks are the most serious. In addition, road conditions significantly affect the occurrence of traffic accidents.
