Transportation has been greatly influenced by the development of logistics with its characteristics of new management concept and organizational form. Logistics center has been a new trend for railway freight stations. This paper brings forward a location method for logistics center based on existing railway freight stations. It first analyzes location influencing factors of railway logistics centers and proposes to select alternative logistics centers by cluster analysis. It then constructs a mathematical location model to re-select within alternative logistics centers. At the same time, genetic algorithm is applied to seek the optimal solution, and the result is that one or more freight stations are selected to be developed into logistics centers. Finally, a numerical example is given to validate this method.
