Mobile storage techniques have gained rapid development together alongside 3D technology, thus making mobile terminal integrated vision navigation possible. A vision vehicle navigation system can be a useful component of intelligent transportation systems, helping people to quickly find their destinations through realistic visual navigation guidance. In this paper, we propose a "reality vision" navigation system based upon a sequence geo-referenced image database. First, a sequence geo-referenced image collection technique with a land-based mobile mapping system is described. The sequence image database and index algorithm with spatial grid is designed to obtain fast query response with an image selection algorithm. Second, the road link model with sequence image database and a related navigation mode is presented as a way to realize reality vision navigation. Finally, we describe a prototype that is supported by Windows Mobile and can run with PDA, PND. The prototype can support an image database of a whole Wuhan city with data volume above 2GB and still achieve reality vision navigation.
