In recent years, China has built the longest and most heavily used high-speed rail network in the world. But many cities’ high-speed rail stations are located in suburbs, and the loss of time affects the efficiency of the high-speed rail. The author analyzes the stations of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railways and Wuhan–Guangzhou high-speed railways to estimate the distance and transfer time from a high-speed rail station to downtown areas, indicating the accessibility impact caused by the suburbanization of the high-speed rail stations. The study suggests that the suburbanization of high-speed railway station is mainly attributed to the lack of integrated transport planning, development of the new districts in a city, as well as the purpose to reduce the cost of land and engineering.
