The efficiency of traffic operation in expressway ramp section is a key factor to the effectiveness of the whole expressway system. The level of service of ramp influence area is the issue that needs to be understood in depth in order to achieve sustainable urban expressway system. The ramp traffic demand is high in urban areas such as in Kuala Lumpur capital city of Malaysia and due to the dense population in the vicinity of the urban expressway corridor this always leads towards congestion and breakdown phenomena. This paper presents a field empirical approach and presents the new Level of Service Chart that reflects local traffic conditions for entrance ramp junctions. Apart from that, this research effort can be a starting point towards establishment of Malaysian Highway Capacity Manual for uninterrupted flow facilities.
