To assess waterway transportation safety of LNG tank container, the first waterway transportation test for LNG tank container in China was conducted. In the test, the pressure and liquid-level in LNG tank container were measured, and the physic-chemical condition of tank body was observed. It is indicated by the analysis of test data that in the process of LNG tank container waterway transportation, the pressure in LNG tank container was increasing slowly within a safety range (tank pressure<0.74MPa), and the phenomena such as damage, corrosion, and deformation of LNG tank container didn't occur. Some relevant suggestions to assure waterway transportation safety of LNG tank container for controlling transportation risk effectively are put forward.
