In this paper, we proposed an effective approach to numerical investigation of the debonding process in composite laminates under quasistatic loading with usage of the cohesive zone model. It is based on contact interaction of the coinciding reference surfaces of two interconnected shell-layers. The cohesive zone model is intended to define a stick area where potentially the debonding can occur. This approach was realized in the ANSYS® commercial software and was verified on the test models, which usually apply to experimental investigation of the fracture process. Both the buckling phenomenon and postbuckling behavior of the ply separation are considered in thin-walled laminated plate under 4-point bending. By using the proposed approach, the defect propagation is investigated, which is caused by the ply separation buckling.
