Tribological tests have shown the operability of the friction pair F-4 - steel 40X. Tests with AMg-10 lubricant showed that at a load of 2.163 MPa, the friction coefficient for the speed range of 2.198–2.93 m/s is 0.025–0.026. In the load range of 0.618–2.077 MPa at velocities of 2.198–2.93 m/s, the friction coefficient is 0.021–0.033. Tests without lubrication showed that at a load of 1.163 MPa and a speed of 2.5 m/s, the friction coefficient is 1.25 times greater than at a speed of 1.905 m/s. The rate of thrust bearing wear when tested without lubrication is 360 times greater than when tested with AMg-10 lubricant.
