There is always a need for alternates for natural materials which are consumed abundantly for two causes: which can be overconsumption or performance improvement. In the case of masonry construction this holds valid and which leads to utilization of alternate materials for conventional bricks. In this study an approach has been attempted to utilize Aerated Autoclaved Concrete (AAC) blocks in place of conventional brick masonry to investigate the material benefits and structural benefits. AAC blocks are the current trend in construction industry, as AAC is eco-friendly and can help the construction industry to reach the sustainable goals. This study focuses on vertical strength of AAC block panels and comparesthem with traditional clay bricks and fly ash bricks. The investigation process is done in 2 stages, modeling and estimating the quantity of materials required for a model 10x10 feet wall and determining the characteristics such as durability, space occupancy, ultimate strength and electrical conductivity. Results of the same has been compared with the conventional block units made up of fly ash bricks and traditional bricks and thus the efficiency of AAC block is obtained. High initial cost of AAC blocks can be justified with the construction time, uniform in quality and future cost reduction.
