This paper presents a combined theoretical and numerical study on the thermal control of a composite sandwich structure with lattice truss cores, subjected to a constant localized internal heat source under forced water convection. The thermal field analysis of the structure is conducted based on the thermal resistance network model and fin theory, following a great agreement between the predictions and numerical results for the interesting temperature of heat source. Further, the main factors, such as heat flux, core geometry parameters, and flow velocity, are separately considered to explore the effect on the maximum temperature of the heat source. Results indicate that this structure possesses a flow velocity threshold to achieve the maximum heat transfer efficiency with lower pumping power.
