The presented investigations look at the vortical flow physics and aerodynamic performance of a generic, sharp leading-edge multidelta wing configuration with control surfaces. The work is part of a German Aerospace Center (DLR) project, looking at technologies and design requirements for next-generation fighter aircraft. The present paper deals with the aerodynamic task to integrate vertical stabilizers and to evaluate the effects of dihedral and rudder deflection angles, as well as the influence of the Mach number on the vortical flow, aerodynamic behavior, and stability. The work is based on a set of investigations looking at the roll stability at medium-to-high angles of attack of the configuration with strakes and wing leading-edge slats. The aim is to enhance the knowledge base regarding the integration of control surfaces for the next design stages within the DLR internal project.
