Mitigation of shock-induced boundary-layer separation using vortex generators (VGs) is an emerging flow control approach in planar inlet geometries. In the present work, an experimental campaign is performed to determine the effectiveness of microramp VGs at shock-induced separation control in an axisymmetric configuration. The baseline flowfield consists of a shock-induced separation generated by a 20 deg axisymmetric ramp mounted within a half-cylindrical duct at M = 2.5 and R e / m 5.3 × 10 7    m 1 . The near-wall VG flowfield and pressure field are first characterized to ensure consistency with planar microramp configurations. The effects of streamwise placement and single/multiple VGs on the shock-/boundary-layer interaction are subsequently investigated. The results indicate that, although the devices are effective at reducing separation immediately downstream, they cause an increased separation shock strength and interaction pressure rise, which enlarge separation in the uncontrolled areas of the flow.
