This study examines the effects of density model time-delay errors by focusing on the Challenging Minisatellite Payload spacecraft data over the 2003–2007 time period. The data are first analyzed to determine the magnitudes of time delays encountered when using a density model. The analysis is initiated by examining the effects of the expected delays of 1–3 h on a theoretical density profile. Delays are then introduced into the model and actual density profile for multiple different cases, and the effects on the orbit prediction results are examined. It is found that the effects are potentially significant for the applications of interest in this study.
