For auto-body structures, thin walled hollow steel sheet sections are recommended as a replacement for mainly spot-welded box-shape components. A well known problem is the pre-bending process prior to the hydroforming step. In this case, the thinner the wall thickness in combination with small bending diameters and relatively tube diameters, the more difficult is the pre-bending into the required shape. Under such critical conditions one-step based FE-Methods - normally used for a fast pre-checking - do not provide sufficient solutions because of the missing influence of the used bending method, the type of bending tools and relevant system parameters. To achieve a more detailed and exact, but also flexible FE-Model, the ThyssenKrupp Stahl company developed a full parametrically controlled modelling procedure using the ANSYS Parametric Design Language. Combined with the interface ''ANDY'' a ready for use LS-DYNA input file is created to simulate the real tube bending process. As a result of the simulation the influence of all defined system parameters on the bending process can be studied or just achieved if the given bending problem is feasible.
