The starting of large jet engines by a pneumatic power source and an air turbine starter can be greatly influenced by the aircraft to which these components are applied. The pneumatic ducting between the power source and the starter, plus any engine-driven accessories (such as hydraulic pumps and electrical generators), are unique to each aircraft. The influence of these aircraft systems will have a significant effect on the performance and design of the complete start system.
