The invention relates to airfield equipment. An aircraft short takeoff method includes fueling a launcher and mechanically connecting an aircraft and a launcher. The horizontal component of mechanical loads is transferred from the launcher to the aircraft in such a way that the total transferred force matches the vector of motion of the aircraft. The vertical component of mechanical loads from the aircraft to a landing strip is transferred through the launcher to a lesser degree. Motion is imparted to the aircraft-launcher configuration by means of converting chemical energy, stored in fuel, using the aircraft propulsion system and the accelerator jet engine of the launcher into kinetic energy of translational motion until the kinetic energy reaches a magnitude which allows the aircraft to take off using the available thrust of its own propulsion engine. The aircraft and launcher are mechanically disconnected. The launcher is decelerated by means of thrust reversal of the accelerator jet propulsion system. The invention is intended to increase the energy-mass efficiency of takeoff support.
