In November 2021, the International Space Station was forced to modify its trajectory, due to a risk of collision with debris coming from the destruction of a satellite, caused by the firing into outer space of a Russian Direct‐Ascent Anti‐Satellite Missile, and this movement was repeated in June 2022. Space conflict can enter into resonance with the categories of the law of collective security, as it is contained in the UN Charter. It is now rare for the use of armed force between states to be accompanied by a formal declaration of war. In the 20th century, outer space was, as commonly described, a sanctuary space in which peace and security should reign, in accordance with the principles of the 1967 Treaty.
