Vehicular Area Network (VANET) consists of very dense network traffic. In a VANET, many vehicles are communicating with each other or to road side units for different decisions. These communications are purely machine to machine and there is no or hardly any human intervention that occurs. To achieve a perfectly service oriented VANET, the security among the devices or among the vehicles is paramount. The security mechanism should enable the device identification and authentication, mutual authentication, communication encryption, storage management in a VANET. In the proposed chapter, authors are working in a multi‐layer cluster‐wise key generation for secure communication among service oriented highly dense VANET. The generated key from this mechanism will be used as the secure key for different communications or authentications. Authors divided the whole VANET into several clusters. The mechanism for character transformation will be different for different clusters. Every cluster will have their own RSU that will issue the key from the implemented database and key generation module. In this work, authors successfully balance the load of different RSU and authentication center. Also, a fast and lightweight mechanism for key generation is presented that work perfectly for the constrained devices under VANET.
