This chapter is devoted to the practical evaluation of probability‐based formal procedures, with test plans based on formal consistent rules that, by experience, give safe designs. Two other procedures for verification are put forward, namely highly accelerated life testing, (HALT), and load‐strength analysis based on characterizing tests. The chapter discusses different approaches for planning and evaluation of verification tests. These require different kinds of verification loads. It explains how to evaluate tests for high cycle fatigue. The second moment load‐strength analysis gives opportunities for continuous improvements by identifying the areas of weakest knowledge. This load‐strength analysis can also be the basis for constructing formal decision rules for release. Probability‐based formal procedures are primarily constructed for consistent decision rules with no immediate reference to the specific component or structure in question.
