The recycling of an estimated 5.0 millions of cars transformed in scraps per year feeds the Japanese automobile industry with indispensable valuable metals such as iron and steel. Recently changes in the operating conditions and unit operations have enhanced recycling efforts of shredder plants to recover also non ferrous metals (aluminum, copper, zinc). In this perspective, Kyushu Metal Industry Co., Ltd. has developed an environmentally acceptable system that integrates newly constructed apparatus and equipment into a single operating plant: Air Jet Separator (air classifier), Echo Metal Jig plunger type, heavy medium separation with a specific density of 3000 kg/m3, binary eddy current and colour sorting systems for separation of non ferrous metals.
