Advances made by the General Dynamics Marine Propulsion Plant Team (GD MPPT) in developing common integrated electric drive are allowing the US Navy to plan to transition to an all-electric fleet of the future, which will be powered by this superior, affordable propulsion technology. The GD MPPT electric drive common integrated power system is a single electric-power system that can be used on both surface ships and submarines, which is the key to its affordability through commonality. It generators supply electric power to the propulsion motor system and all ship service and weapons systems loads.
