An account is presented of current efforts to control air pollution emissions from mobile sources. Non-mandated, voluntary programs as well as some that will still rely on regulatory mandated command and control methodologies are detailed. Suggestions to improve the implementation and evaluation of mobile source emission control programs are given, as well as ways to improve citizen, government, and industry participation in these programs.
