The boundary contact problems, including the unknown contact position between drillstring and well wall and the unknown boundary condition of axial displacement and force, are discussed by using finite element theory and trial calculation method for the strength analysis of drillstring in the lateral horizontal well. The geometric nonlinear problem is solved with Newton-Raphson method. A model of strength analysis for large deflection drillstring is presented. The computations show that the program is convergence and believable that the theory and models are feasible and effective.
