The effectiveness of seat belts in reducing occupant displacement and flail in rollover crashes has been studied experimentally. The experiments involved rigid seat test using human volunteers and a sitting pelvis Hybrid III mannequin. The goal of the test is to provide some objective quantifications of the effects of different restraint system variables. Results show that seat belt system and efficient anchorage location make substantial reduction in displacement.
